The personal touch is what we’re all about. We love bringing people’s unique visions to life with bespoke menus, whether it’s a traditional three-course British banquet, a family-style northern Italian feast or a mezze-inspired canapes & cocktails reception.

If you can dream it, we can make it! 

We are based in the heart of Nottingham, but have planned and cooked for events all over the country. From fine dining dinners to weddings and parties, we bring hearty and wholesome food to a variety of venues - whether we’re cooking from a commercial kitchen, the middle of a field or a street food stall.

We can handle every part of the events process from menu conception through to crockery, tableware, staffing, and supplier recommendations, or any one of those alone.

Adam Barry Jones Bio Picture

OUR TEAM

  • FOUNDER & MENU LEAD

    Putting the A, the B and the J into ABJ Catering, Adam Barry Jones' food career began at Wagamama, until he left to setup and run Bishop Stortford's much-loved South Street Pantry: a family business, co-owned with his mum and brother.

    He then ran Holy Trinity Brompton's employability program, helping ex-offenders train for jobs in hospitality, as well as opening his own local coffee shop.

    At ABJ, Adam loves nothing more than helping people to work out how to represent themselves or their event's vibe through food.

    Adam and Amy married back in 2009, and are now proud parents to five kids (and one dog!). Amy is a vicar at a Nottingham church, but currently on maternity leave taking care of baby Vera - the latest addition to the Jones family.

Rodney Henderson Bio Picture
  • OPERATIONS

    With a background in many of the UK’s best loved restaurant groups, Rodney has probably worked to deliver at least one of your favourite dishes, whether it’s Wahaca’s pork pibil tacos, Pho’s noodles or Rum Kitchen’s Jerk Chicken.

    Having managed some of London's busiest restaurant sites, his years of food, restaurant and event experience has meant he is ready to handle anything the night throws at him, and all with a smile.

    After beginning his career in London, he spent a few years working in hospitality over in Amsterdam before moving to Nottingham with his wife and kids to get stuck in to all things events at ABJ.

Dan Bio Picture
  • HEAD CHEF

    Dan makes everything tastier - our talented Head Chef, he has worked for over 10 years in the food industry at a number of local brands including Nottingham's famed Pudding Pantry.

    If you've ever had a perfect pancake in the area, there's a good chance Dan flipped it for you!

    He can always be relied upon to even make a cup of tea expertly, and he puts passion and love into every dish that leaves his kitchen. All hail Chef Dan.

  • EVENTS MANAGER

    Luke is our comrade on the front lines who makes sure everything runs perfectly on the day of any event.

    Starting his career as a behaviour mentor in primary schools, Luke then moved into hospitality where he mastered being an expert barista - making him everyone’s favourite colleague to ask for a coffee.

    He now takes the reins at many of our events, managing anything from anniversary parties and corporate dinners to celebration BBQs and weddings.

    No detail is too small or request too big for Luke to make it happen!

    Megan makes sure all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed in the run up to any event, ensuring every detail has been nailed down, making for a perfect, panic-free day.

  • MARKETING & ENQUIRIES

    Whether it’s working in marketing and projects for restaurant groups such as Wahaca and Pizza Pilgrims, through to freelancing with food tech companies or smoothie start-ups, food has always been the anchor in Emily’s career.

    At ABJ she makes sure we’re always showing our best side and making things easy for the people we work with.

    We work with a selection of wonderful front of house servers, who turn up to every event with smile - whether it’s a fancy corporate champagne reception at Nottingham’s beautiful listed Castle, or a wedding in rustic old barns in the depths of the Melton Mowbray countryside.

    We meet and interview every server we work with. We pay fairly, and we have high standards in return.

  • ABJ’S PREP CHEFS & KITCHEN PORTERS

    Our team of prep chefs are the incredible engine that keeps our kitchens running - without them, we would stall in no time.

    Equally, our kitchen porters make sure every dish emerges sparkling clean.

    We’re grateful to have a rotating team of wonderful, reliable and trustworthy people that are vital to each event we run.
